Arrange the Pictures |

Age: Any Level: Beginner to Mid-Intermediate Time: 15-30 minutes Language Skills: Listening Participation: Small groups, pairs, individual Materials: Procedures: Preparation: 1. Draw about 5 pictures based on an appropriate story for the class level and age. 2. Make copies for each group or individual in the class. In Class: 1. Handout the pictures and have students respond orally to them for a short period of time. 2. Have students predict the story plot, setting, and/or characters. Do this as a whole class or in the group/pair. 3. Read the story to the class. 4. Have students put the pictures in the correct order. 5. (Optional) For short reading practice, you can prepare captions for the pictures and give them to the students to match with the correct picture. 6. (Optional) Have individual students or groups retell the story (speaking). Assessment: Informal observation; Correct order check; Comprehension test
