Complete the Story - Strip Story

 

Age: 4th Grade and Up

Level: Intermediate

Time: 40+ minutes

Language Skills: Reading; Writing; Brief Listening

Participation: Small group, pairs, individuals

Materials: A story cut into strips

Procedures:

Preparation: 1. Find an appropriate story and cut the sentences or paragraphs into strips. 2. Leave out the ending of the story. 3. Add 2 or 3 extra strips that do not fit within the story.

In Class:

1. Give the strips to students.

2. Have them arrange the strips in order.

3. When finished, have students compare their story with others.

4. Tell the story to the class as a whole and have the students check their strips.

5. Have the students write an ending to the story.

Assessment: Informal observation, Strip Order, Comprehension test, Written text
