Age: 3rd Grade and Up Level: Beginner to Advanced Time: Various Language Skills: Reading Participation: Individual; Pairs Materials: Story fitting student level; Comprehension questions Procedures: 1. Demonstrate how to read a text while marking unknown words and briefly guessing what the word means on another sheet of paper. 2. Give the students the text. 3. Have students read the text the same way you demonstrated. 4. Near the end of the activity, have students answer the comprehension questions. 5. Have students find the unknown words in a biligual dictionary or English-only dictionary. Assessment: Comprehension questions; Vocabulary test or exercises
