Daily Proverbs |

Age: 5th or 6th grade to adult Time: 10-20 minutes Level: High Beginner to Advanced Language Skills: Speaking-Listening, Short Reading, Short Writing Participation: Whole Class Materials: 1 or 2 proverbs - 1 in English and 1 in the students' native language Procedures:
1. Make sure students know what a proverb is. 2. Either - Write an English proverb on the board that is appropriate for the class level - or - Ask students to tell you a proverb from their native country (or any that they have learned from their parents or reading or so on). This works best if you know the native language of the students. 3. Discuss the meaning of the proverb. 4. Help students say the proverb well - focus on pronunciation and rhythm. 5. Have students copy the proverb in their notebooks. 6. During the rest of the class time, as you do other activities, ask students what the proverb of the day was. Assessment: Informal Observation, Future Test
